What I'm looking for is advice... What year and why? If you had to do it over again with an unlimited budget what would you buy? Thanks!! This message has been edited by Blue Kat on 11-24-2002 at 06:34 PM High Voltage Blue, as long as we are dreaming.... Seriously though, there really isn't that much difference between any of the prowlers other then color. In 97, the hp was 214. After that year, it was 253 hp. There was no 1998 year model. Chrome wheels were added in 99 and standard thereafter. Shocks changed in 2000. The Mulholland blue was the only one to have a blue top (all the other models have black). All have the same equipment (ie. radio, auto-stick, CD-changer). There really is on option list other then color. Pick a color that you really want, not what is available. And be patient, there are plenty of nice used ones and several new ones still available. One other thing, this was the last year for them and production has ended so don't wait for a 2003 model. ------------------ Driving a car is just transportation, When I bought my 1999 red almost three years ago, I wanted a 2000 red because of the newer suspension and the black bumpers. I bought my 1999 red Prowler because at the time the cheapest 2000 red Prowlers were selling for about $15,000 over sticker and I could not justify paying that much more only for the bumpers and suspension. Recently, I was looking to buy a second red Prowler and found a couple red 2000s selling for about the same price as the red 1999s. If I were to do it all over again right now, I would buy a 2000 red Prowler because 1) red is still the only color I want and 2) because of the newer features on the +2000 models (softer suspension, chrome shifter bezel, black bumpers, etc.). Additionally, not that it matters to me as I am not into the limited edition/ 1 out of XXXX thing, but they only made about 50 red 2000s. ------------------ • MTD Prowler Intake System 2.2 If you don't like riding in a very firm car (really they are not that bad, I have `99) you might want to a `00 or newer. The auto volume and auto dimming mirror are 2 features I would like to have. I like the `97 & early `99 front control arms that are painted to match the painted silver wheels. The later `99 and newer have rough cast arms that are harder to keep clean. Back to color, what do you like and buy it. ------------------ ------------------ CJ - you can turn the auto volume off Todd - when will the gold be fitted into your banner? First was a 2002 Inka Gold. The reason I got it was because I had walked into a showroom a saw it there looking so pretty under the lights and I just had to have it. The wife told me she would buy it for me for my 62nd birthday. I was driving a brand new car at the time and had not even made a payment on it so I was pretty happy and clean when I drove out because I took a bath in the process of buying it. I do love it though. I asked the wife what she wanted for Mother's Day this year and that's what brought the 2002 Candy Apple Red from Florida to Oregon. We love them both and have no regrets. Bill C'mon..........A/C........would you think that I wouldn't know that?? That was the first thing I did! ------------------ LOL! AS a owner of a 2002 with 250 miles on it that got it's top replaced at 200 miles with 4 holes in it, I'd say those "things" didn't make it into all new ones...LOL! MikeNick I am looking for a Prowler right now. I have a Grand National so the bay's will be full of great looking V6's. Well except for the Escalade. Blue Kat I have a 2001 Mulholland Edition that I purchased in April of this year. I picked the Blue because of color(although there is not a BAD color choice), good price (for the Atlanta area) and a good dealer (Hayes C-J in Oakwood, GA). And I would do it again in a heartbeat! Never had so much fun!!!! YellowFever quote:

Driving a Prowler is a State of Mind...WPG Considering all the years and colors are selling in pretty much the same range, to buy one now could be pretty much based on color preference.

Larry & Sue MayesCJ I have a Black 99 and an 02 Candy Red. I love them both, but the 02 definitely has a better ride. I like the dimming mirror, but hate the auto volume. Color is, of course, a matter of preference. Todd Cameron The ride to me is more important then the color.. so all mine are 2000 and up.
2000 Black, 2001 Black Tie, 2001 OrangeALLEY CAT Nick - buy one with factory warranty and extended warranty available. Bill Watson The story behind my two Kats and colors. CJ quote:
CJ - you can turn the auto volume offTodd Cameron A/C not sure about that at all... gota get her here 1st Marty Usher With today's Prowler market, if you don't want a specific color you can find a NEW kat in the mid $30's and get full warranty. If you are wanting to spend less and get a used kat with some miles on it, I would agree with those that suggest 2000 or newer due to ride (plus I really like the readouts on the mirror)

Driving my DreamBlack Tie 161 From what I know, from 2000-2002: the Prowler had ride improvements, less front end hopping, and some things were added to the top mechanism to prevent a problem with parts rubbing holes in the top. Most recalls and TSB's seem to be for Pre-2001 as well. Chris D I'll sell you my 2000 silver with 3500 miles on it. Email me at cdoms1@aol.com Randy Cobb Decide on your color first.
Then get advice from this site on how to search and ask members to help you in your search.
Be patient. I know this is hard to do, but if you work on your search, do your homework and be patient; the right Kat will come your way!YellowFever quote:
